Social media is a brilliant tool, but it also sometime resembles a rowdy bar with a lot of people shouting over each other hoping to be heard and thought of as attractive and interesting! So how do you get cut through and really resonate with your customers. Here are some of the things to avoid making your social media feed much more attractive to your audience.

STOP TALKING IF YOU ARE BORED BY YOURSELF!

If you are just writing content for the sake of it you are better off to step away from the computer. With so much content out there, you need to be interesting. Take an honest look at your content and ask yourself – do I honestly think this content interesting? Better to speak less often but with killer content than firing out mondain information into the cybersphere.

STOP GOING HOT AND COLD

Consistency is key in social media. Regular content is the optimum approach for engaging on social media platforms. If you are someone who has great flurries of activity followed by a long silence, then it is worth stopping and asking yourself how you can get into a regular routine for your social media. A little often is the best approach.

STOP SELLING AND START CONVERSING

Social media is about engaging in conversation and not just sell sell sell. Look at your social media and evaluate the % content that is helpful and interesting to your clients and the % that is about you. On social media you should be ideally aiming for 70/30  or 80/20 on content that is helpful or useful to your client versus about your business.

STOP BEING SHY ABOUT SELLING

A bit odd considering the previous point perhaps. Well sometimes we are missing some straightforward opportunities to clearly sell ourselves using our social media channels. Are you able to link to your site from your social channels? Have you fully completed the bio sections? Are your profile photos selling your services? Do you have branding in the photos you post on social?

STOP IGNORING YOUR CUSTOMERS

Do you post and turn away from your social media? How good are you at engaging with your clients if they respond to your posts or message you via your social media channel? If a client rang your practice during the day you would not put them on hold for a couple of hours. This is another communication channel that you are inviting your clients to use so support that with the resources you need to respond to your clients using these platforms.
